As far as quality is concerned, we can never achieve TV quality for web videos. This is mainly due to bandwidth limitations and the results of video compression.
In order to improve web video quality, there are certain procedures for the compression practices. As we know, Video can capture only two dimensions of the world. Therefore a certain percentage of quality of images and sounds will be lost as we cant capture all three dimensions. If we use a higher quality camera, we will be able to minimize the loss of quality. Additionally in order to deliver video on the web, compression is a necessity. This will reduce the data information and amount again, therefore having an impact on video quality. This is why proper compression needs to take place in order to keep a good quality in place at the same time.
According to our research we found out that there are two main types of web vidoes: streaming and progressive download.
This is the preferred method for larger files. The streaming is live and is delivered in realtime online. It takes less time to download and end users will not need to download the entire thing in order to view it.
With progressive downloads. we have to make sure of the type of internet connection that the end user will have to view the video. This method is not desirable for users with a smaller bandwidth. At the end of the day, a copy of the file will be copied in the users personal computer. Therefore with larger videos, this will take up a lot of space on the end user's side.

Google or Zoho?
Before we make this comparison we need tosee what are the features that actually make online applications more appealing to the users? Here are a few examples:
*Easy Pdf generation, convert and download to other formats
*Easy to email
*Online storge in order to access from anywhere
*Allows to upload to existing standard formats like xls, rtf, ppt and to edit them
Zoho is business-oriented and Google is consumer-oriented therefore their applications differ a little in what they offer, and a whole lot when it comes to active users.
With Zoho users are impressed by the wide range of available applications, and their depth of features… However I think that googledocs would be more successful as people already have gmail accounts they can use and wouldn’t require them to sign up and go through that extra step. Also the name GOOGLE is already out there and people are a whole lot more familiar with their other applications and fore sure there are many google fans out there...
This is a good table which compares Zoho and Google.
Rich Media
The Flood got in my way of coming to class but I did the research and found this interesting example for Rich media and its definition:
“The defining characteristic of rich media is that it exhibits dynamic motion. This motion may occur over time or in direct response to user interaction.
Two examples of dynamic motion that occur over time are a streaming video newscast and a stock "ticker" that continually updates itself. An example of dynamic motion in response to user interaction is a prerecorded webcast coupled with a synchronized slide show that allows user control. Another is an animated, interactive presentation file embedded in a web page. “
Rich media elements are used in a variety of education areas ranging from distance learning to web-based teaching and instructional tools.

Video Broadcasting on the Web
I watched Dr. Horrible: http://www.hulu.com/watch/28343/dr-horribles-sing-along-blog
There are always pros and cons to different technological advances. In regards to Broadband video I feel like it can help in the short run and hurt in the long run.
Broadband video helps: Nowadays consumers are more empowered than ever and have extremely busy lifestyles. Broadband is a great way to catch up on episodes missed, easily sample different tv programs etc. More exposure will result into more on-air viewers. Plus as broadband audience size builds ad revenue will increase as well. Network programming is and always will be the most watched, most valued source of video entertainment and with broadband opening up all kinds of new revenue opportunities, there's plenty of reasons to be positive.
Broadband video hurts: Broadband takes away the networks' success factor, driving profitable on-air viewing to profitless broadband viewings. There is no way that broadband revenues will ever catch up. As more programs move online and viewers can eventually watch these right on their TVs, the shift from on-air to online utilization will only pick up the pace!
When I was researching I read somewhere that “In the short-term, there is evidence that broadband expands audiences. For example, The Office's premiere last fall 9.7 million people tuned in, but another 2.7 million watched online. “
